Welcome to the Pioneer Hall in Port Chalmers!

Pioneer Hall was built in 1939 and donated to the community by a former Mayor. It was cared for by the Dunedin City Council for a long period of time until, in 2007, the Council decided to sell it. The community protested and after many submissions and a petition signed by more than 500 local residents, the hall was handed back to the community in 2008.

The Pioneer Opportunities and Resources Trust (PORT) was established to take responsibility for managing this valuable community asset. The Trust, along with hundreds of volunteers, has spent the last few years cleaning, repairing, painting and improving this heritage listed building and it is now open for community use!

We’ll be using this website as a space to share news, events and activities and keep you up to date with what’s happening in Port. Remember, the hall is a community asset and we need your help to make sure it’s getting used! Please get in touch if you would like to use the hall for… well, just about anything!

Contact the hall by emailing pcpioneerhall@gmail.com or phone/sms the Community Coordinator: Chris Armstrong on 022 369 6807
